Stay in Hamilton for Adele Concert, says Stadium Motel

International singing star Adele will perform in New Zealand for the very first time in March this year, with three concerts scheduled for 23, 25 and 26 March.
Tickets for the first two shows at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium sold out within 23 minutes of coming on sale, forcing promoters to add a third concert which sold out in 31 minutes, breaking the record for the fastest selling tour in New Zealand by a single artist. Pleading fans then convinced the organisers to build a temporary grandstand on the north bank of Mt Smart Stadium, opening up an additional 5000 tickets per show, which also quickly sold out.
If you were one of the lucky people to secure tickets to the concert, you might now be finding yourself with something new to panic about – getting accommodation in Auckland.
Concert-goers are reporting a shortage of accommodation in Auckland and dramatically increased prices for remaining rooms.
“I bought my tickets and within 30 minutes had my flights booked and paid for,†said one disgruntled Adele fan. “I had a few places lined up to book to stay and by the time I went back online they had hiked their prices up.
Dorothy Stokes, co-owner of Hamilton’s Stadium Motel, says a good solution is to travel up from Hamilton for the concerts in Auckland.
“We have a variety of room options available for those dates,†says Dorothy. “Stadium Motel is located at the north end of Hamilton so it’s quick and easy to get onto the Waikato Expressway and head up to Auckland.
“A great idea would be to book in with us for a few nights, travel up to Auckland for the concert and then spend a couple of days relaxing in Hamilton, which is beautiful at that time of year with the autumn colours. While you’re here, take a look around and see what the Waikato has to offer.â€
